Slitscan – scanning movement in time

An artistic research of generative documentation of places and movements

Slitscanning is a camera and film technique in which the camera/input device is scanning only a one pixel line per frame and place the “slits” next to each other. With a fix camera position the technic converses everything which is part of the non moving space into a color repetition and draws the line and shape of movements happening in that space in time: The result a visual timeline with a movement graph of the recorded place.

I use this technique as a documenting aparatus for places , people and motion.
